Gift of Gunter and Ruth Hirshfield
Id no. 2005.A.97, Correspondence
Some letters from death camps were dictated by SS officers to deceive the recipients. The text translates "My dear I am glad to give you some news from me. I am well, and I hope the same from you. We have heat in our buildings also a good bathroom and the opportunity to wash. Please tell Mindel [housekeeper] about these lines. Also at this opportunity my heartiest wishes for your birthday and please write to me. Many greetings, especially to Mindel and Ernest and last but not least from you all from your Gunther. Monowitz, April 1943."
