Rose Silberberg (born Jaworzno, Poland in 1934) and her younger sister made playing cards from torn up cigarette boxes and cartons while hiding in a chicken coop in 1943. There were up to sixteen people at different times hidden in the chicken coop belonging to Mrs. Chicha, a Lithuanian Christian. Her father made the coop more liveable and built a bunker underneath. The cards were found after the war.
