The illustrations show characters or episodes in the Purim story, such as: Esther going before the king to invite him and Haman to dinner; Haman pulling Mordechai on the king's horse; Esther accusing Haman to the king; Haman and his sons hanging.
Separating the columns are fish and roses. The fish, in different colors, presumably represent the zodiac sign of the Hebrew month of Adar, in which Purim is celebrated.
