Id no. 2001.A.2ab, Artwork
Subject(s):  Memorials
This model for sculpture was designed to be part of a memorial to the 6,000,000 Jewish victims of the Holocaust. The memorial was designed by the well-known architect, Erich Mendelsohn in 1951-1952 for Riverside Park, New York City. The memorial was never built, but a 1947 plaque noting the plans to build a Holocaust Memorial on the site still (2001) remains. The sculpture was made by the artist Mitzi Salomon Cunliffe.
