Hanukkah Menorah of the Heidelberger Family

Gift of Louis Heidelberger
Id no. 1362.91a-e, Judaica
Subject(s):  Ritual, Hanukkah
The Heidelberger family lit this oil-burning menorah during World War I when candles were unavailable. It was made from tin by a crafts person in the Heidelberger’s home-town of Flehingen, Germany. This unusual menorah contains two rows of eight cups which allowed two families to light the menorah at the same time. The Heidelbergers used the menorah after the war, and brought it with them when they moved to the USA in 1937.
