Astrid Jakubowicz wore this dress when she was a hidden child in Belgium. As the dress became too short for her, she wore it as a blouse.
Astrid Jakubowicz, was born in Belgium in 1937. Her father was sent to a work camp in 1942, where he presumably died. The rest of her family went into hiding with the help of a family friend, Franz Rosseels. Jakubowicz and her younger brother Paul stayed with many people throughout the war, but were eventually separated. After liberation, Jakubowicz was reunited with her mother and brother.
