Shlomo Chazanovitch ( later Solomon Chasin) used this knife to slaughter chickens according to Jewish law.

Chazanovitch was born in Poland in 1899 or 1900, and his father, who was killed in the Holocaust, was a cantor and shochet. In 1924 Chazanovitch immigrated to the USA, where he was a cantor, shochet and mohel (ritual circumciser) throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The knife contains a steel blade, a gold-toned bolster with a white handle and four gold-toned rivets.
