This certification validates a Swedish ?protective passport? or Swedish Schutzpass for Tivadar Hammel. The certificate was issued by the Royal Swedish Embassy in Budapest and signed by Raoul Wallenberg. Wallenberg, together with other diplomats and representatives of the Swedish government saved many thousands of Jews following the German occupation of Hungary in March 1944, by issuing protective passports such as this one.
