Id no. 121.95, Document, German
The Communal Association of Central European Jews in Shanghai congratulates Richard David on being reelected as the director of the Chaufoong Home, an honorary post. In this position, David was in charge of Jewish religious activities in a refugee camp in Shanghai.

Richard and Johanne David and their children Rolf and Arnold left Germany in 1939 to escape the Nazi regime and found refuge in Shanghai, China. Shanghai had no restrictions on immigration at the time, providing refuge for some 20,000 European Jews. The David family immigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled in Baltimore.
