Rozalia Nowak traveled to England in 1947 with 21 children from Lodz, Poland who had survived the Holocaust. Since people under 21 years of age were not issued individual passports, Nowak agreed to take responsibility for them.

In England, Nowak worked in the Polish embassy and studied English at London University. In 1950, she began nursing school.

Nowak immigrated to the USA in 1953.
