In this letter to her ?Aunty Blanka, Uncle Hugo, Ruth, Ellene, Alex.? Amster happily reports on the recent arrival of a letter from her mother, still in Kassel. Her mother sent news that Amster?s sister, Marion, was doing well in Holland. Amster concluded her letter with a flourish, signing it with multiple xxx (kisses), four drawings of the Star of David, and the slogan ?V for Vicktory? (sic).

The family originally came from Kassel, Germany. Ruth came to England on a Kindertransport via Amsterdam and later joined her father in the United States in 1943.
