Americans David and Ruth Orkow adopted Alex from a JDC-funded home for Jewish children in Burgl Gut, Austria. They also adopted a daughter.
The Orkows had accepted positions with the American Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) in Europe in order to adopt children.
This document carries the first visa issued under Section 3(b) of the Displaced Persons Act of 1948, which allowed the Orkows to bring their adopted son to the United States.
