Peretz Milbauer was a Jewish soldier in the American army.
The Ebensee Concentration Camp in Austria, was built as a sub-camp of the Mauthausen-Gusen complex of labor and concentration camps. It served to provide labor to dig nearby tunnels in which valuable industrial production would be protected. Ebensee, like the other Mauthausan-Gusen camps, operated on the Nazi principle of ?extermination through labor? in which inmates were given impossibly difficult tasks in terrible conditions with insufficient food and rest.
