DP Camps such as the one in Landsberg provided temporary shelter and other services as survivors struggled to rebuild their lives. A Holocaust survivor, Borys became an officer of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) after the war. In the course of his work in the camps, Borys met Frania Bratt, a fellow survivor. Frania worked with Borys to establish a kosher communal kitchen to accommodate traditional Jewish dietary practices. In 1946 Frania and Borys married. In 1950 the family immigrated to the United States.
