Hannah Weill (Hannelore Mansbacher) (b. 1930) lived with her parents Kaethe and Julius Mansbacher in Berlin until Kristallnacht in November 1938. After they saw the anti-Jewish violence on that night, the family escaped to Shanghai, China, in April of 1939. Some 17,000 Jewish refugees were able to enter without visas. They left China in June 1947 with the help of the JDC, and arrived in San Francisco on July 3. The family settled in San Diego.
