This photograph, taken by Mendel Grosman in the Lodz ghetto, shows eleven Jewish policemen sitting around a table. The Jewish ghetto police or ?Order Service? (?Ordnungsdienst? in German) was tasked with guarding ghetto entrances and maintaining order within the ghetto. They reported to the Judenrat (Jewish Council) which was forced to report to the Nazis.
