These Jewish children who had witnessed atrocities in Poland were kept isolated in Terezin. In October 1943, they were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau with their caretakers.
Czech artist Leo Haas was deported to Terezin in 1942, where he secretly created hundreds of sketches. After the war, he produced more complex works based on his earlier art and Ghetto experiences.
