Soldbuch of Gustav Thalheimer in the German army

This Soldbuch (army service and pay booklet) belonged to Gustav Thalheimer, a Jewish solider who was among the 100,000 Jews who served in the German army during World War I. Gustav (b. 1871) entered the army in 1893. He later served in the reserves and was mobilized in 1917. He was demobilized at the end of the war and left Germany in the 1930s. Thalheimer eventually settled in Uruguay.
